The Arizona murder suspect, Alex James Barnett, has been apprehended by the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) following online speculation that he may be the 'porch guy' captured on Nancy Guthrie's doorbell camera. Barnett, a 33-year-old, was sought in relation to the murder of Tucson Police Cadet Carlos Ramirez. After Barnett's photo was released by the police, social media users drew comparisons between him and the 'porch guy.'
On Monday, August 24, Barnett surrendered without incident after a three-hour standoff with the Pima Regional SWAT team at an apartment complex on the east side of Tucson. In the early hours of August 19, Ramirez, a former corrections officer, was shot and killed in what appears to be a home invasion. The PCSD has not linked Barnett or any other suspects to the investigation involving Nancy Guthrie, who was reported missing on February 1 and whose disappearance remains unsolved.
