Enphase expands outreach in Netherlands ahead of net metering end

Enphase Energy, a California-based solar technology company, is intensifying its outreach efforts in the Netherlands in preparation for the termination of its net metering policy on January 1, 2027. The company has scheduled over 300 in-person events and webinars in 2026 to educate homeowners about the upcoming changes. As of now, more than 100 events have already taken place.

The Dutch net metering system currently provides solar-only homeowners with full retail credit for energy exported to the grid. However, upon policy expiration, these homeowners will face reduced compensation for their solar energy exports. To assist affected customers, Enphase is partnering with Prets.io, a Dutch fintech platform, to offer financing options such as the government-backed Warmtefonds loan program for sustainable energy investments.

With nearly half a million Dutch homeowners utilizing Enphase's solar systems, company officials emphasize their commitment to safeguarding customers' investments. Enphase's IQ Battery systems enable homeowners to store excess solar energy for later use, thus avoiding reduced export rates. An Enphase installer, Leo van der Grinten, reports a 50% conversion rate from event attendees who have signed pre-orders for new installations.

Enphase Energy, founded in California, specializes in microinverter-based solar and battery systems, having shipped approximately 89.4 million microinverters worldwide across more than 165 countries.
