Drone attack shuts down Russia's Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Rostov Oblast

On the first day of the school year, children in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories will commence their studies with a focus on Russian unity. Russian schools now govern nearly 2,000 institutions, educating over 582,000 pupils as per Almenda Center of Civil Education's findings, reported Ukrainska Pravda. Ukrainian language has been entirely eliminated from school curriculums since 15 December 2025.

Russian Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov announced that guidelines for this curriculum have already been forwarded to regional authorities. The inaugural lesson will center on the concept of "Unity of the Peoples of Russia," emphasizing national cohesion, historical memory, and patriotic values. This weekly session, titled "Conversations about Important Things," will be held every Monday in schools and colleges throughout Russia and the occupied regions.

Concurrently, other educational alterations will be implemented. All schools will commence a mandatory Russian identity course, introduce a standalone military training program, and start grading children's behavior in second grade, according to the Yellow Ribbon resistance movement. Additionally, two new regional history textbooks, which portray the occupied territories as historically Russian, will be made compulsory for students in grades 5 to 7.

Experts from the OSCE's Moscow Mechanism have claimed that Russia's reshaping of education in the occupied territories contravenes international law, specifically Article 43 of the Hague Regulations and Article 50 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.
