Don’t sacrifice your future for quick success – Youth told

The Nsumia Church of Christ in Nsawam-Adoagyiri concluded its annual youth celebration on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of remaining focused on one's future, maintaining godly values, and steering clear of actions that could harm their prospects. The event, themed "Building a Godly Career through Education," featured teachings, discussions, and a dramatization of the biblical story of Naboth, found in the Book of Kings.

This narrative serves as a cautionary tale highlighting the significance of integrity, the dangers of greed, peer pressure, and the repercussions of making poor decisions.

Evangelist Edward Boakye, the Preacher at the Nsumia Church of Christ, delivered a message to the youth, urging them to draw lessons from Naboth's refusal to give up his ancestral vineyard to King Ahab. Boakye stressed that Naboth's steadfastness, even in the face of pressure to compromise his principles, underscored the importance of staying true to one's values.

He highlighted how greed, abuse of power, false accusations, and a lack of commitment to truth could lead to detrimental consequences for individuals, families, and society.

Boakye advised the youth against succumbing to peer pressure, societal expectations, or the allure of quick success, emphasizing that their future is far more valuable than fleeting pleasures or material gains. He encouraged them to rely on God as they pursued their education and careers, asserting that education should not only provide knowledge and skills but also foster character development.

Acknowledging the youth as the backbone of families, churches, societies, and nations, Boakye highlighted their responsibility to uphold and pass down the values they have received. He warned against drug abuse, explaining that substance misuse can negatively impact emotional, social, and physical well-being, as well as education, relationships, and future opportunities.

Boakye stressed that living righteously is crucial for building a promising future, as young people are poised to become the leaders of their families, the Church, and the nation. He called for continued support from parents, church leaders, and society at large through guidance, mentorship, and positive examples.
