Delhi CM calls emergency meet over H1N1 spread as 3,000 cases reported so far; health minister says 'under control'

Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced an emergency review meeting on Tuesday, following a surge in influenza cases in the national capital. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has convened the meeting to address the rising number of H1N1 infections in the city. As of August 25, Delhi has reported approximately 3,000 influenza cases this year, with 2,308 of them being H1N1 cases.

Singh assured that the situation is under control, with ample doctors, medicines, and hospital beds available to treat patients recovering at home. The chief minister has called for the emergency meeting to review the arrangements and preparedness for H1N1, as well as other vector-borne diseases in Delhi. Singh emphasized that there is no need for panic, as patients are receiving treatment and returning to normalcy.

Isolation wards have been established in every hospital, and action will be taken against any hospital failing to provide beds to patients. H1N1, commonly known as swine flu, typically presents with fever, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches, and fatigue. Those experiencing persistent high fever, breathing difficulties, chest pain, confusion, or worsening symptoms are advised to seek medical attention promptly.
