Conservatives voice concern over Lee's diplomacy amid growing security uncertainties

Conservative politicians expressed apprehension over South Korea's diplomatic approach under the Jae Myung administration, citing the increasingly unpredictable security situation on the Korean Peninsula. They are advocating for enhanced defense measures.

During a National Assembly seminar, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon warned that his city might be excluded from future talks between the United States and North Korea. He pointed out that a direct agreement between Washington and Pyongyang, involving a freeze of the country's nuclear program and relief from sanctions, without involving South Korea, is now a conceivable possibility. This comes after President Donald Trump hinted at the prospect of a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Oh Se-hoon, a prominent member of the People Power Party (PPP), the main opposition party, strongly criticized the Lee administration's handling of defense issues. He was particularly perturbed by the U.S. decision to reduce military exercises, which was carried out without prior notification to Seoul. He argued that this lack of communication demonstrates the deteriorating security climate.
