CM Maryam Nawaz Orders Punjab Police to Fire Corrupt Officers Within One Week

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed the Inspector General of Punjab Police to eliminate corrupt officers from the force within a one-week timeframe. This directive was announced during a crucial meeting focused on law and order issues. The chief minister emphasized strict actions against accused corrupt officers and cautioned against appointing notorious police officials as Station House Officers.

Maryam also imposed a zero-tolerance stance on crimes against women and children, seeking a comprehensive strategy to address such offenses and imposing severe penalties on those involved.

During the meeting, the Punjab Inspector General reported a significant reduction in various criminal activities, including a 54% drop in robbery cases, a 35% decline in murders, a 46% decrease in car theft, and a 53% reduction in motorcycle theft. Maryam directed police leaders to adopt a stringent policy against crimes targeting women and children, emphasizing that no one involved in these crimes would remain unpunished.

She also announced a September 30 deadline for equipping Punjab Police personnel with body cameras and stressed the importance of maintaining law and order, as well as protecting citizens' lives and property as the government's top priority.
