‘Budget of female-led film is very less’: Taapsee Pannu reveals challenge behind Gandhari

In the Hindi film industry, there is a tradition of producing successful female-led action films such as Alpha, Mardaani, NH10, Naam Shabana, Akira, Dhaakad, and Raazi. Taapsee Pannu's new movie, Gandhari, is set to add to this list. The movie, produced and written by Kanika Dhillon, tells the story of a mother's relentless search for her abducted daughter in a different city, exploring themes of revenge and redemption.

At the trailer launch, Kanika emphasized that female-led action films should have stories, emotions, and thrills, rather than just a mission. Taapsee added that the budget for female-centric films tends to be much lower, so a strong story and emotion are crucial. Despite not being trained in martial arts, Taapsee's character focuses on her child as the primary source of action in the film.
