Bossier High's Marcus Hudson receives top assistant coaching award

Bossier High defensive coordinator Marcus Hudson received the prestigious Kevin Black Bossier Parish Assistant Coach Award during the annual Bossier Lions Club Coaches Dinner on August 24. The award, which recognizes exemplary assistant coaches in the parish, is named after Kevin Black, a former Parkway assistant coach who passed away in 2021.

Hudson's nomination came from Bearkat football coach Gary Smith, who praised Hudson's professionalism and commitment to coaching. Hudson, who grew up in Benton, a Bossier Parish community, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating that it holds significant personal meaning. In addition to coaching football, Hudson is also the powerlifting coach at Bossier High and will be returning to the softball coaching staff in the spring.

Previous recipients of the award include Hal Harlan of Haughton, Sean Koeppen of Plain Dealing, and Chris Kennady of Parkway. The $500 stipend awarded to Hudson will be engraved on a plaque alongside 29 additional names. The annual Bossier Lions Club Coaches Dinner is held prior to the Bossier Lions Club Jamboree, a football event for the area's high school teams.
