Blue Jays’ Dylan Cease launches capsule collection at AGO

Dylan Cease, a pitcher for the Blue Jays, unveiled a limited-edition capsule collection at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) on Tuesday. The collection features prints, postcards, clothing, and totes, all showcasing Cease's artwork titled "Eve of Toronto." "I get to enjoy doing the painting, I get to show it off and let everyone see it, and then we also get to make money and have it all go to good causes," Cease remarked.

The AGO plans to use the proceeds to support its charitable mission of enriching lives through art and learning. AGO's chief brand and business officer, Ros Lawler, hopes the collaboration will inspire people's interest in the arts. Lawler recalled how Cease's interest in art began when he sought refuge from the intense and stressful season of baseball by visiting an art museum.

The painting "Eve of Toronto," first displayed in Blue Jays' General Manager John Schneiders' office, is described as a love letter to the city. Cease expressed his delight in sharing his creative vision with fans and contributing to the community. Fans, like Lesley Mak, a baseball and art enthusiast, praised Cease's unique ability to seamlessly blend his talents in sports and art.
