Battle royale goes grunge: there's a new PUBG game and it's set in the '90s

A new PUBG game titled PUBG: Ded.net has been unveiled at Gamescom, blending the battle royale genre with elements of roguelite gameplay. Developed by publisher Krafton, this grunge-themed installment is set in the 1990s, specifically in the unpredictable world of Cascadia.

In PUBG: Ded.net, players will experience a unique mix of shooter gameplay and roguelite progression across runs. Each match lost is considered a run not wasted, as what you scavenge in the world will change you and subsequently alter your fighting approach. Players can mix and match dozens of abilities, including using car doors as riot shields, cannibalizing enemies for health, playing dead, or even hacking payphones to steal money from rivals.

The Steam page for PUBG: Ded.net also mentions the use of AI tools to assist in content development. Closed beta test registration is now open, inviting eager players to dive into the unique battle royale experience set in the 1990s.
