Arsenal ‘confident’ on Alvarez agreement with Atletico

Arsenal express confidence in securing Julian Alvarez's transfer from Atletico Madrid, should the forward agree to join the north London club. The Argentine has made his intentions clear, vowing to leave Atletico this summer and has received a chilly welcome as a substitute against Villarreal recently. Earlier in the summer, Alvarez had indicated his desire to move to Barcelona, but Atletico has made it clear they would not entertain a sale to their La Liga rivals.

Consequently, Arsenal have taken an interested stance on the situation, with reports suggesting internal optimism about reaching an agreement. Speculation suggests Atletico would demand a fee of around €150m for Alvarez, a record-breaking amount for a British transfer. Initially, Atletico had maintained a stance against selling Alvarez, but growing discontent among the home fans may prompt a change in their decision.

During the weekend's match, Atletico fans threw scarves towards Alvarez as he exited the tunnel, and he chose not to join his teammates in applauding them.
