Apple price hikes continue as Mac mini with 16GB RAM and 256GB is now $899 — 1TB storage option adds $500 to entry-level headless system

Apple has ramped up prices once again, leaving only iPhones and AirPods unaffected since a price increase wave began in late June. The new changes are the most costly yet, with the refreshed Mac mini and Mac Studio leading the charge. In the Mac mini lineup, the M6 model now sells for $899, up $100 from the previous June pricing on the M5 version.

Even more jarring is the $300 storage increase, leaving no headroom for expanded capacity despite memory shortages. The base Mac mini's $799 price tag is especially painful given the limited 256GB SSD storage. Upgrading to 512GB costs $200, while 1TB and 2TB options add $500 and $1,000 respectively. Upgrading from the base 16GB to 32GB of memory costs $400, and 64GB adds another $600.

The top-end 1TB SSD adds $300, with the 8TB maximum costing $3,800. The Mac Studio maintains base pricing at $2,499, despite hardware upgrades. However, upgrades are pricey, with the 18-core CPU/40-core GPU variant adding $300. The Mac Studio's base M5 Max config starts at $5,499, a price nearly double the previous generation's M4 Pro.

Upgrading to 256GB of RAM is a $4,000 price jump, while 16TB SSD storage costs a whopping $7,500. Apple customers are facing steep price hikes due to ongoing memory and storage shortages, making previously affordable Mac mini models out of reach.
