Anthony Seigler hits go-ahead triple in 9th and Red Sox beat Marlins 4-2

Anthony Seigler's go-ahead triple in the ninth inning proved decisive as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Miami Marlins 4-2 on Monday night. Mickey Gasper contributed with two hits and a walk, while the Red Sox secured their fourth consecutive victory. The Red Sox dominated against teams with records of .500 or better, winning 19 of their last 20 games.

Miami closer Pete Fairbanks, who started the ninth inning, left early due to numbness and nerve irritation in his arm. Tyler Zuber relieved Fairbanks and ultimately allowed Seigler's game-winning line drive. Nick Sogard added an RBI single, and Erik Miller pitched a scoreless eighth inning. Aroldis Chapman sealed the win as the Marlins failed to score against him.

Miami's Kyle Stowers returned from the injured list and went 1 for 4. Xavier Edwards provided the Marlins' only run in the seventh inning. Sandy Alcantara, the Marlins' starter, gave up one run over seven innings, achieving his 21st quality start of the season. He walked two batters and struck out six. The Red Sox will send left-hander Peyton Tolle to start on Tuesday.
