Angel Reese grabs WNBA-record 26 rebounds and sets season mark

The Atlanta Dream made history on Monday, securing a perfect West Coast road trip with a thrilling 78-71 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks. Angel Reese led the team with an astonishing 26 rebounds, shattering the WNBA single-season rebound mark with her 452nd board of the season, ultimately amassing 458 rebounds on the year. Reese's performance included 11 points, marking her 27th double-double of the season.

Las Vegas' A'ja Wilson previously held the record with 452 rebounds in 2024. Reese's impressive effort saw her join Chamique Holdsclaw in 2003 for the second-highest rebound total in WNBA history. The Dream also added 11 points from Reese, contributing to a 27th double-double of the campaign.

Allisha Gray scored 20 points, Rhyne Howard added 18, and Naz Hillmon contributed 12 points for the Dream (25-13), who went 4-0 on their road trip. The win brought Atlanta within a half-game of third place in the league with six regular-season games remaining.

Nneka Ogwumike led the Sparks with a season-high 27 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, while Cameron Brink added 15 points and five blocks off the bench. The Sparks, who were eliminated from playoff contention with their loss, fell to 13-25 and remain winless in their last eight games.

Dearica Hamby scored 15 points for the Sparks, who were without their third-leading scorer, guard Rae Burrell, who was sidelined due to illness. The Los Angeles team showed improved defensive intensity in their second game against Atlanta during a four-game homestand, but their offensive efforts fell short as they shot just 40% from the floor.
