Andharwad Panchayat In MP's Jhabua Faces Corruption Allegations Over MGNREGA, Housing And Development Works

In Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh, residents of Andharwad Gram Panchayat have lodged a complaint alleging corruption and irregularities in various government schemes and development projects. The complainants have demanded a thorough, impartial investigation into the reported discrepancies. They claim that several projects, including a cremation ground, MGNREGA works, housing schemes, and roads, have been marked as completed in official records, despite being incomplete or non-existent on the ground.

The villagers' complaint encompasses a range of government schemes and projects, such as the construction of a cremation ground, works under MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Housing Scheme), Kapildhara Yojana, tap water supply scheme, and RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) roads. They allege that funds were allocated and recorded as expended on the cremation ground and RCC roads, even though the respective works remain unfinished.

Furthermore, the villagers seek an examination of labor attendance and payment records under MGNREGA, scrutiny of beneficiary payments for the housing scheme, and an audit of the project records for Kapildhara Yojana. Regarding the tap water scheme, they contend that despite spending on pipelines, their village has not experienced a consistent water supply.

The villagers also expressed frustration over the delayed response from Janpad Panchayat Ranapur to their Right to Information (RTI) requests. They have called for accountability and appropriate action against officials or individuals found culpable if their allegations are substantiated during the investigation.
