Amputee King Nipho inspires unity on his 5,000km journey for disability rights

King Nipho, a 37-year-old amputee from Krugersdorp, has embarked on an inspiring journey to walk 5,000km across South Africa with a single leg. This ambitious #OneLegWalk campaign, which began on May 27 in Pretoria, has already taken him through Cape Town and is now heading towards Durban. The purpose of this walk is to promote disability inclusion, social cohesion, and unity in communities.

Nipho stated that his main goal is to ensure greater support for people living with disabilities, while also addressing the disorder in communities. Despite the physical demands of the trek, Nipho remains undeterred and continues to spread positivity across the country. He has received warm welcomes from various organizations in the communities he has visited, including the Association for the Physically Disabled (APD) in Gqeberha.

APD chairperson Garth van Niekerk expressed his appreciation for Nipho's journey and the support from the organization. To further assist Nipho in completing his journey, SPAR Eastern Cape provided him with supplies and sponsorship for the remainder of his trek. Nipho's determination serves as a powerful reminder of resilience and the ability of ordinary South Africans to unite behind a common cause.
