AIIMS Bhopal Opens IVF, Fertility Centre With Advanced Treatment Under One Roof

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at AIIMS Bhopal recently opened an IVF and fertility centre. This state-of-the-art facility provides comprehensive fertility services under a single roof. Patients can expect a range of services including fertility evaluation, counselling, and advanced treatment procedures.

At the centre, the development of eggs and ovulation process in women is closely monitored through ultrasound and hormonal assessment. Medications are administered to induce ovulation when necessary, and couples are advised on optimal timing for conception. In select cases, a procedure known as intrauterine insemination may be performed, where sperm is directly inserted into the uterus.

For more severe cases, the centre offers In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) services. These include preparing the ovaries with medications to stimulate egg production, retrieving the eggs, fertilising them with sperm in a laboratory setting, developing the embryos, and transferring them into the uterus. In some male infertility cases, a more advanced technique where sperm is directly injected into the egg may be employed.

The embryos developed in the centre's modern laboratory are carefully assessed before being transferred into the uterus under controlled conditions. Embryos, eggs, and sperm can also be preserved for future use if medically indicated. Additionally, the centre provides evaluation and treatment for male infertility, offering semen evaluation and preparation for assisted reproductive procedures.
