Advisor to Prime Minister: Qatar continued its efforts to encourage return to negotiations between US, Iran

In Doha, Qatar's top advisor to the Prime Minister, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, emphasized that Qatar has continued its efforts to encourage negotiations between the United States and Iran. During a weekly press briefing, he warned of the far-reaching impacts of any escalation, not only in the region but globally. Dr. Al Ansari stressed the importance of restoring normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring global energy and food security, goals achievable only through a comprehensive diplomatic solution.

He clarified that the sanctions Qatar is facing do not affect the country directly, as it complies with international sanctions and interacts positively with the measures taken. Dr. Al Ansari underscored Qatar's commitment to supporting negotiations and diplomatic solutions over siding with any party. He also reiterated Qatar's readiness to defend its security and sovereignty against any aggression.

In terms of Gulf coordination, he highlighted the ongoing communications and meetings among GCC countries, noting the recent visit by Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to Riyadh. He affirmed that all GCC countries support a peaceful resolution to the crisis and that Qatar's communication with Iran is part of these mediation efforts.

Regarding economic impacts, Dr. Al Ansari debunked a Financial Times report on budget reductions, stating the figures were inaccurate and related to precautionary measures. He assured that the Qatari economy remains strong and that national development projects will continue as planned.
