Abu Dhabi Police ready for safe return to schools

Abu Dhabi Police has verified its preparedness for the commencement of the 2026-2027 academic year, with a comprehensive plan encompassing security, traffic management, and awareness initiatives to guarantee students' safe return to schools. The strategy, executed in collaboration with key partners, emphasizes road safety, traffic flow management during peak hours, and awareness among students, parents, and school personnel.

Abu Dhabi Police extended its congratulations to students, parents, teachers, and administrative staff on the beginning of the new academic year, wishing them a secure and prosperous year ahead. The Criminal Security Sector has devised an awareness program for students, teachers, staff, and parents, covering issues such as drug abuse and cybercrime.

Workshops and lectures will educate students about the risks of drug use and its consequences on individuals and society. Students will also be educated on preventing cybercrimes, including online bullying, abuse, and cyber extortion.

To promote responsible citizenship and proper behavior among students, the program will also underscore potential security risks. The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate will bolster its presence and conduct awareness activities as students resume schooling. Officers will patrol intersections, internal and external roads, and school premises to regulate traffic, facilitate school bus movement, and improve traffic flow during busy morning and afternoon hours.

Pedestrian crossings will be monitored to ensure safe student transitions from vehicles to school entrances.

Around 10,000 school buses are poised for deployment to UAE students. Awareness lectures and programs will target motorists, bus drivers, students, parents, school administrations, and supervisors. The Security Media Department will launch an awareness campaign on traditional and social media in cooperation with media organizations and partners, promoting safe practices and encouraging community members to contribute to student protection.

Abu Dhabi Police reiterated that student safety is a collective responsibility, urging road users to adhere to traffic regulations and safe driving practices, especially near schools and school buses, as thousands of students prepare to return to classrooms for the upcoming academic year.
