8 years on, Telangana High Court revokes judge’s forced retirement over misconduct

The Accra High Court has rejected a request by former Signals Bureau Director-General Kwadwo Adu Boahene to postpone his trial until the Supreme Court rules on a case involving Ofoase-Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah. Counsel for Mr. Adu Boahene had asked for a delay until September 2, when the Supreme Court was set to hear Nkrumah's review application.

However, Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Justice Srem-Sai argued that the prosecution had only one more day to conclude its case. The judge, Justice Francis Apanga Achibonga, did not find any legal requirement for suspending the trial under the current circumstances, noting that the earlier Supreme Court decision was binding until overturned.

The Adu Boahene trial involves 11 charges against him, his wife, a third individual, and Advantage Solutions Limited, all of whom have pleaded not guilty.
