4 suspects arrested over alleged murder, sexual assault of 5-year-old girl in K-P's Haripur
Police recover five-year-old victim’s body from a well after extensive search; CM Afridi orders inquiry
On Tuesday, four individuals were apprehended by the Haripur District Police in connection with the alleged abduction, sexual assault, and murder of a five-year-old girl. During a press conference, DPO Shafiullah Gandapur expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of the young girl, emphasizing that the disappearance of a child is not only a family tragedy but a matter of concern for the entire society.
The police received a missing persons report from the girl's father on August 10, which prompted the initiation of a case under Sections 361 and 364-A of the Pakistan Penal Code. A special investigation team, comprising senior police officers and female investigators, was formed to oversee the search and investigation process. Digital evidence, including CCTV footage from approximately 200 cameras and call data records, played a crucial role in identifying the suspects and tracing the child's movements after she left her home.
The recovered body was later found in a deep, dry well near a warehouse on Link Road, and the investigation is ongoing.
