282 public schools, 69 kindergartens ready to receive 148,000 students in new academic year

Doha, Qatar - The Director of the Schools and Student Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar, Maryam Ali AlNesef Al Buainain, has announced that all preparations are complete for the start of the new 2026-2027 academic year. Around 148,000 students will be welcomed at 282 public schools and 69 kindergartens.

In an interview with Qatar News Agency, Al Buainain explained that the Ministry worked throughout the summer to complete maintenance and prepare educational facilities. The plan was based on four strategic pillars: ensuring smooth enrollment, launching a unified reference framework, preparing student programs, and strengthening administrative governance.

The Ministry focused on key areas such as enrollment procedures, guidelines for school leadership, early readiness for student programs, and enhancing administrative governance. They also created nine evening centers for continuing education students, with registration set to begin in early September.

The Ministry opened six new public schools equipped with the latest educational resources to keep pace with urban and population growth. They also improved the registration process, providing several digital services and increasing the number of summer registration centers.

Al Buainain emphasized that the Ministry measures the impact of educational initiatives and programs, focusing on quality outcomes and their direct effect on students. They digitized administrative records to enhance efficiency and empower school leaders to perform their roles effectively.
