2027: APC denies withdrawing Tinubu campaign council list

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected claims that it withdrew the list of members for its 2027 presidential campaign council for review. This denial came from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who dismissed the rumors as unfounded. Morka stated that any modifications to the list would be formally announced should they occur.

The controversy arose after reports suggested the party had revised the list due to concerns about certain names and the exclusion of notable party figures. However, Morka clarified that no updates to the list were being made at the moment, and that any such changes would be officially communicated if they were necessary. The APC originally announced the campaign council on Saturday, with President Bola Tinubu as its chair, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Nentawe Yilwatda as vice-chairmen, Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General, Hope Uzodimma as secretary, and several other prominent individuals in key roles.

The composition of this council has drawn criticism, especially due to the inclusion of serving public officials and those under investigation for corruption, such as Betta Edu and Zacch Adedeji. Despite this, Morka emphasized that he was not in a position to address grievances from members about omissions from the list. The controversy has also attracted attention from opposition leaders, including Rabiu Kwankwaso and Dino Melaye, who have raised concerns over the inclusion of certain public officials in the campaign council.
