Two women injured in Malaysia after water slide accident at theme park

PETALING JAYA: Two women were injured after they fell from a water slide at a theme park and resort in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, on Saturday. The head of the Melaka Police, Halim Abas, said the women, aged 46 and 31, were reported to have suffered brain swelling and blood clots in their heads in the incident, which occurred around 2.30 pm.

Both women were reportedly vacationing at the theme park and resort with family when the accident happened. They were using a double-seat water slide, with one person sitting in front and one in the back. However, while descending the slide, the double-seat water slide suddenly malfunctioned, causing one of the women to fall onto the slide's wall.

Both injured women were taken to Hospital Melaka for treatment. The CT scan of the 46-year-old woman revealed a blood clot on the right side of her head. The 31-year-old woman also suffered a concussion and injuries to her right foot, knee, and chest. Meanwhile, the 46-year-old woman was reported to have no memory of the incident and was found to have suffered a brain injury in addition to her physical injuries.

In response to the incident, the Chief Promoter of Tourism Melaka, Nasrul Ahmad, urged all theme park and resort operators in the state to always prioritize visitor safety. He said that regular inspections and maintenance of theme park facilities, games, and equipment on their premises should be carried out to ensure they are always in a safe and functioning condition.

He added that they do not want an accident like this to happen again due to negligence or poorly maintained equipment.
