Zondacrypto boss seeks leniency for testimony on political ties: Report

Przemysław Kral, the former CEO of Zondacrypto, is reportedly pleading for leniency in exchange for providing testimony on alleged political connections. The cryptocurrency exchange is currently under investigation for a massive fraud, with customer losses estimated at $650 million. Kral is cooperating with Polish prosecutors and has reportedly engaged in discussions about a potential plea deal for several months.

The company is accused of misusing customer funds, only utilizing a portion to purchase cryptocurrency while the rest was transferred to private accounts controlled by Zondacrypto managers. Kral has been actively seeking to reduce his sentence by discussing details about the exchange's political activities, including funding for right-wing politicians.

Zondacrypto was a major sponsor of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held in Poland shortly before Karol Nawrocki's election victory. The exchange spent 37 million zlotys on advertising with Telewizja Republika during its final year, and companies connected to Kral made payments to foundations associated with politicians Zbigniew Ziobro and Przemysław Wipler.

Zondacrypto's email addresses have been inaccessible since Kral disclosed the company's inability to access a cold wallet containing 4,500 Bitcoin in April.
