‘You are insulting India’s heritage, provoking youth’: Yogi Adityanath targets Rahul Gandhi over Manusmriti remark

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on the ancient Hindu text, Manusmriti. Adityanath asserted that Gandhi was not only insulting India's traditions and heritage but also provoking the country's youth. Addressing a programme in Raebareli, the CM emphasized that Gandhi should set an example as a responsible leader.

Gandhi had criticized the "Manusmriti mindset" in Maharashtra, urging women to break free from patriarchy and emphasizing that women belong to themselves. Adityanath targeted Gandhi in his Lok Sabha constituency, referring to an "objectionable remark" made by a girl against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during protests. The CM argued that Gandhi insulted Manu, whose calendar system was not given by his predecessors but by Manu himself, and questioned why Gandhi insulted him.

Adityanath accused the Congress of dividing the country and society, weakening India's social unity, and undermining security and identity. He also criticized the SP for supporting their families and ignoring the heroes of India's freedom struggle. Adityanath highlighted the BJP-led government's achievements in Raebareli, including a record production of coaches in a modern coach factory and the rollout of a complete Vande Bharat train set.

He urged the people to support development and condemned the previous Congress governments for their failures in delivering welfare schemes to the poor.
