Wyndham Clark suggests the two reasons why fans were jeering him during the final round of the BMW

Throughout the final round at Bellerive, he encountered jeers from the crowd, particularly when playing alongside Rory McIlroy. Despite his poor performance in the latter part of the game, Clark managed to clinch the win by three strokes.

Clark, a six-time PGA Tour winner, is currently leading the Player of the Year race. Following his triumph, McIlroy congratulated Clark on his victory, commending him for his character displayed during the event. McIlroy, a two-time US Open champion, acknowledged the mental strength required for the competition, especially considering the various factors that contributed to the jeers.

When questioned about the jeers during the final round, Clark admitted that he did not experience any negativity during the first three days of the tournament. However, he acknowledged that there were two primary reasons for the jeers during the final round. Firstly, the crowd favored McIlroy, and secondly, betting played a significant role.

Fans were more inclined to support McIlroy, as betting on him would yield a better return on investment. Despite the jeers, Clark appreciated the support he received and recognized McIlroy's well-deserved fan favorite status. Clark, who has had a history of unsportsmanlike behavior both on and off the golf course, must accept that his treatment is a consequence of his past actions.

Instead of fighting against the villain persona he has cultivated, Clark should embrace it, as it will ultimately save him from the exhausting struggle of trying to change public perception.
