We want Imran Khan to get the best treatment, says Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev, the renowned former Indian cricket captain, has expressed his desire for Imran Khan to receive the highest standard of medical treatment. Dev, one of the 22 ex-international cricket captains who have recently appealed for Khan's well-being, stated that despite not having knowledge of Pakistan's legal system, they are only seeking basic human rights and necessary medical facilities for the former prime minister and world-class cricketer.

The appeal was made to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the launch event of the PGTI's Race to DP World India Championship. Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Greg Chappell, Clive Lloyd, Arjuna Ranatunga, Allan Border, David Gower, Steve Waugh, and John Wright are among the other prominent cricket figures who have signed the letter addressed to Sharif.

The letter, initially sent in February 2026 by 14 former captains, including Gavaskar, highlights the camaraderie forged on the cricket field and transcends the political disputes between the two nations. Khan, who served as Pakistan's prime minister from 2018 to 2022, has been in prison since his removal from office. He recently underwent a medical examination, which was deemed fit by doctors; however, the 22 cricket legends question the validity of the procedure.
