The Berlin Wählo-Mat, a tool designed to help voters understand which parties align with their positions, is set to be utilized in the upcoming 2026 Berlin Abgeordnetenhaus election. This online tool compares personal positions with those of political parties on various topics, including housing, urban administration, mobility, and education.

The Wählo-Mat's development team comprises young voters from Berlin, experts in politics, journalism, and education, as well as staff from the Federal Center for Political Education (bpb). The team presents 80 theses to eligible parties for the Abgeordnetenhaus election, from which 38 are selected to appear on the Wählo-Mat. These theses cover significant election issues and generate controversy among the parties.

All eligible parties are invited to participate in the creation and selection of theses, but they only provide their answers and justifications. The tool is offered by the Federal Center for Political Education, a federal agency aimed at fostering democratic awareness and encouraging active political participation among citizens. The bpb was established in 1952 and operates under a 2001 decree from the Federal Interior Ministry. A 22-member Kuratorium oversees the bpb's impartiality.

The Wählo-Mat has been available since 2002 and is updated with current information before national and European elections. Voters can use the Wählo-Mat to navigate the election process, whether voting in person or by mail. Alternatives to the Wählo-Mat include the Diakonie Berlin-Brandenburg-Schlesische Oberlausitz's Social-O-Mat, which focuses on social policy issues and covers 12 parties' positions. Another tool, Party-Check, assesses alignment with parties on a scientific basis and complements the Wählo-Mat.
