Vote for the Preseason Girls Volleyball Player of the Year, presented by Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists

In the first week of high school football in Southwestern Indiana, numerous players delivered exceptional performances. The Courier & Press invites readers to cast their vote for the Player of the Week. Below are the nominees for this prestigious award, accompanied by a summary of their standout accomplishments.

Jaivon Aunspach, a junior wide receiver from Castle, showcased his versatility by contributing eight catches for 130 yards and scoring four touchdowns in a 29-26 victory against North. Leyton Battles, a senior defensive back from Vincennes Lincoln, was instrumental in the team's 7-6 triumph over Terre Haute South, as he recorded two interceptions, including the game-winning pick in the final minute.

Lucas Beier, a senior quarterback from Tell City, led his team to a commanding 49-6 triumph over Perry Central, rushing for 167 yards and scoring three touchdowns. In addition, he delivered a staggering 81 passing yards and a touchdown. Dru Ellis, a junior from Memorial, dominated the offense in a 48-14 rout of Jasper, accumulating 116 total offensive yards and netting four touchdowns.

Remi Johnson, a junior from North Posey, had a steady impact in the team's 34-21 victory over Southridge, catching nine passes for 66 yards (one touchdown) and anchoring the defense with 11 tackles and two interceptions. Dax Kramer, a senior running back from Tecumseh, dominated the game with 150 yards on just 11 carries and two touchdowns in a 37-0 romp over Princeton.

Jason Jones, a senior quarterback from North Daviess, was instrumental in the team's 47-12 victory over Washington, connecting for 199 passing yards and scoring four touchdowns while also rushing for a team-high 83 yards.

EJ Rainey, a senior running back from Mater Dei, led the Wildcats to a dominant 56-14 win over Central with four touchdowns on the ground. Caden Rochleau, a senior quarterback from Gibson Southern, contributed 454 total offensive yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Floyd Central. Finally, Amyr Wilford, a sophomore running back from Reitz, powered his team to a 46-0 triumph over Harrison, rushing for 134 yards and scoring three times.
