Uganda and Burundi military officials visit Israel to discuss Gaza troop deployment

Tel Aviv, Israel (AP) — Officials from Uganda and Burundi visited Israel last week to discuss deploying their troops to Gaza, as part of an international security force proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump's Board of Peace for the fragile ceasefire. The officials were informed by a Board of Peace representative that Uganda finalized its troop contribution after its parliament approved it this month.

No details have been finalized with Burundi, but they are eager to begin the process. The Burundian delegation consisted of three senior military officers. It remains uncertain what Uganda or Burundi might gain or offer in return. The international force has seen slow progress, with Burundi and other nations such as Morocco, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, and Albania committing smaller contributions.
