UEFA sets September 2 deadline for Champions League squad registration

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has announced a deadline of September 2 for clubs to register their squads for the 2026/27 Champions League league phase. Each team may register a maximum of 25 players, with at least two goalkeepers included. Additionally, eight of those 25 spots must be filled by 'locally trained players' or 'association-trained players'.

Locally trained players are either club-trained for three seasons or association-trained for the same period. Clubs can register an unlimited number of players on List B throughout the season, but must meet certain eligibility requirements. Players born on or after January 1, 2005, and meeting specific eligibility criteria can also qualify for List B. Players who have played for another club during the qualifying rounds of UEFA's club competitions can also feature for a different club in the Champions League from the league phase.

Clubs that advance to the knockout phase can register up to three new players by February 4, 2027, with the same 25-player limit and locally trained player requirement still applying.
