'They can have their fantasies': Congress on TVK projecting TN CM Vijay as next PM

Congress MP Karti Chidambaram dismissed speculation that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin could emerge as a key figure in national politics, stating that becoming Prime Minister of India requires the support of at least 272 MPs. Chidambaram made the comments in response to Vijay's attendance at the 31st Meeting of the Southern Zonal Council, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

He noted that while the Tamil Nadu-based political party led by Vijay may have aspirations for national prominence, the reality is that only a party commanding the backing of 272 MPs could emerge as Prime Minister. Chidambaram described the party as centered around a prominent movie star, acknowledging the wishes and ambitions of its leader.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president and MP Manickam Tagore criticized the ruling party, stating that some Tamil Nadu ministers continue to operate in a "fan club" mentality and cannot be altered. Tagore was responding to remarks by Tamil Nadu Vettri Kazhagam minister Jagadeeswari, who claimed that the state's Chief Minister would one day become Prime Minister.

Tagore emphasized that individuals in this "fan club mode" are unlikely to be changed. Vijay had previously met with Home Minister Amit Shah at the Southern Zonal Council meeting in Chengalpet, Tamil Nadu. Amit Shah serves as both chairman of the Zonal Council and the Southern Zonal Council vice-chairman.
