Television’s Richard Lloyd Diagnosed With Cancer, Crowdfunding Treatment

Richard Lloyd, the guitarist co-founder of the band Television, has been diagnosed with bile duct cancer, as announced through a crowdfunding campaign on his band's social media. Bandmate Sean Seymour revealed in the campaign page that Lloyd received a diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma in March. Since then, Lloyd has endured two episodes of sepsis and seven stays in the ICU.

The crowdfunding effort can be supported via GoFundMe. Seymour highlights that one tumor in Lloyd’s liver is perilously close to a significant blood vessel, making surgical removal risky. Additionally, Seymour reports that Richard is unable to continue touring and his wife, Sheila, is dedicated as his full-time caregiver. In response to the campaign, Lloyd stated, "I am usually a pretty upbeat person and I am taking this in stride, but it has become very difficult on our own and financially we are strapped.
