Task force mobilised to establish 1st Mara hospital, says Asyraf

Mara chairman Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has announced the formation of a special task force to develop Mara's inaugural hospital. Speaking via a Facebook post, Asyraf highlighted the agency's existing medical education, technical training, technology, and entrepreneurship programs as justification for the new hospital. He emphasized that the hospital would serve as a teaching facility for students at UniKL RCMP, which provides nursing, pharmacy, and physiotherapy programs.

Clinical training and hospital-based experience are crucial for completing the UniKL RCMP educational experience, according to Asyraf. The hospital could also integrate Mara's engineering and technology programs, such as biomedical science at UniKL Mestech and technology disciplines at other UniKL campuses. The facility could function as a "living laboratory" for students and researchers, enabling KKTM students to work on hospital equipment and systems while UniKL students develop technologies like artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, robotics, and medical devices.

Additionally, Mara entrepreneurs could contribute products and services to the ecosystem. Asyraf stressed that the hospital is a natural extension of Mara's mission to develop Bumiputera human capital, entrepreneurship, and strategic ownership, moving beyond merely producing healthcare professionals to building and owning an institution where professionals can serve, conduct research, and ultimately lead the industry.
