‘Taking part in Ukraine war’: Russia warns UK after Burnham hands Kyiv ‘secret tech’

The UK has been accused of directly participating in the war in Ukraine after London agreed to share classified information with Kyiv to assist in the development of long-range missiles. Russian officials have responded sharply to the news, warning that British military support is "adding fuel to the fire" and hindering efforts towards a peaceful resolution.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham was in Kyiv on Monday for his first overseas trip since assuming office, where he was expected to announce the authorization of defence company MBDA to share classified details about British-made components used in the SCALP long-range cruise missile. This move is part of broader British and French plans to establish long-range missile production within Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed extreme negativity towards the decision, accusing Britain of continually deepening its involvement in the conflict and obstructing progress towards a negotiated settlement. Peskov also warned that Russia was working to identify facilities involved in producing long-range missiles and other military equipment, with Russian forces prepared to destroy them.
