Taiwan charges 9 over illegal AI server exports to China, including Nvidia and Super Micro staff

Taiwanese prosecutors charged nine individuals, including staff from Nvidia and Super Micro, for illegally exporting advanced AI servers to mainland China. This move further escalates the AI competition between China and the United States. The exported servers, known as "B300" graphics processing units, are banned from sale to China.

Prosecutors allege that the defendants attempted to evade export controls by setting up a company in Japan, creating fake websites, and falsifying information. Some of the servers were successfully delivered to China, while others remain in Taiwan awaiting resolution. Both Nvidia and Super Micro expressed cooperation with Taiwanese authorities and commitment to enhancing export compliance programs to protect American innovation.
