Super Metro breaks silence over claims it ferried goons to disrupt Gachagua’s Kirinyaga event

Super Metro has addressed allegations that its buses were used to transport individuals who intended to disrupt a political event in Kirinyaga, Kenya, on August 23, 2026. The transport company clarified on Monday that the buses spotted in the region were carrying secondary school students who were en route to a hike in Kathandeni Forest.

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina had accused Super Metro of facilitating the transport of goons to interfere with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's gathering. In response, the company asserted that the youths were not involved in any political activities. The clarification came after claims that the buses were part of a covert operation to cause unrest during Gachagua's meetings.

Super Metro emphasized that the passengers were merely on a school outing and were not linked to any political agenda. The controversy began when Maina expressed concerns about the presence of three Super Metro buses carrying seemingly jubilant passengers with chants. The Kirinyaga Woman Representative warned the transport company of legal repercussions for any violence that might occur at Gachagua's events.
