Super Metro breaks silence over claims it ferried goons to disrupt Gachagua’s Kirinyaga event

NAIROBI, Kenya - Super Metro has rejected allegations that its buses were utilized to transport political goons to Kirinyaga, in an attempt to disrupt gatherings led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. The bus company revealed that the buses observed in Kirinyaga were transporting high school students en route to a hiking excursion at Kathandeni Forest in Gichugu Constituency.

Super Metro emphasized that the young passengers had no affiliation with political activities, aiming to dissociate themselves from claims that their buses were hired to transport individuals intending to create chaos during Gachagua’s meetings. This clarification emerged following remarks from Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina, who accused Super Metro of ferrying "Kasongo’s goons" to the region with the intention of inciting unrest at Gachagua’s meetings.

Maina threatened legal action against local organizers and facilitators for allegedly mobilizing the group. Super Metro denied these accusations, asserting that the passengers were merely school-going boys and girls heading to a hike, not individuals recruited for political purposes. The dispute unfolds amidst increased political activity in the Mt Kenya region, where Gachagua has been conducting meetings as he strives to strengthen his political foundation prior to the 2027 General Election.

The movement of groups into areas hosting political events has become a point of contention among rival political factions, with accusations of premeditated disruptions and organized support mobilization intensifying as tensions rise.
