SportsZone Top 5 Plays of the Week 8/23/26

SIOUX CITY, IA (KCAU) - This week, SportsZone is highlighting the top five plays across various sports. The fifth-ranked play took place at Morningside, where volleyball powerhouse Corban hosted the team from Iowa. A spectacular kill by Liv Odvody resulted in the Stangs sweeping the next two sets.

Coming in at number four, high school football fans witnessed a remarkable play in Kingsley-Pierson. Quarterback Eli Schroeder spotted his target, Sam Doeschot, and made an incredible grab before escaping a tackle and launching himself into the end zone for a second touchdown of the game.

The third-ranked play occurred at Lewis and Clark Park. The RedHawks hit the ball down the middle, and Vooletich fielded the ball, tossing it to Van De Brake. From there, Alberto Osuna executed a flawless double play by slinging the ball to first base.

Rounding out the top three, Remsen kicked off the 2026 high school football season with an electrifying performance. Tyten Waldschmitt's 64-yard run up the middle secured the team's first score, leading them to a 69-point game.

And finally, our number one play of the week unfolded in McCook, South Dakota. EPJ was on the road when a jarring tackle caused the ball to go out of bounds.
