Seventh developer betas of iOS 27, macOS 27 land as releases loom

Apple has released the seventh beta versions of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 for developers to test on their devices. These updated software versions were made available one week after the sixth beta releases.

Developers can obtain the betas by navigating to the General section in the Settings app on their iPhone or iPad and selecting Software Update. iOS 27 brings Apple's enhanced version of Siri, a chatbot capable of conversing with users much like ChatGPT. This AI is equipped with broad world knowledge, can access personal data from apps such as Messages and Mail, and is aware of what's happening on the screen to provide relevant information.

The update also introduces new Apple Intelligence features across various applications including Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, Wallet, and Passwords. Additionally, a dedicated Siri app has been added to store Siri conversations. Siri's text generation capabilities are now available system-wide for generating text or receiving feedback on written content, while Visual Intelligence has been integrated into the Camera app with a new Siri mode.

Apple has also improved the appearance of Liquid Glass and added a slider for users to customize the level of transparency. Performance enhancements are another notable aspect of these updates, aimed at making iOS faster even on older iPhone models. Users can expect apps to launch more quickly, AirDrop transfers to be swifter, and the keyboard to appear more rapidly. Moreover, devices are now better at transitioning between Wi-Fi and Cellular networks to ensure a seamless connected experience.
