Rockies place starting pitcher Kyle Freeland on injured list

The Colorado Rockies have placed starting pitcher Kyle Freeland on the 15-day injured list due to a pinched nerve, as announced on Monday. Freeland left his start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday after 3 2/3 innings due to pain radiating from his neck to his fingers. Initially, Colorado manager Warren Schaeffer believed Freeland would recover and avoid being placed on the injured list, as he felt better the following day.

However, Freeland's condition worsened during his bullpen session on Friday, leading to his decision to place him on the injured list. Freeland, who is 4-10 with a 6.37 ERA in 23 starts, remains the Rockies' leading pitcher in strikeouts (103) and innings pitched (124 1/3). In response to Freeland's absence, the Rockies have reassigned right-hander Blake Adams from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his roster spot. Adams has a 2-5 record with an 8.10 ERA in 17 games with the Albuquerque team.
