Residents lament as bad road isolates Imo communities

Residents of Umuokanne and Ohoba communities in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State are pleading with the government to repair a major road that has isolated them from healthcare facilities, markets, and neighboring areas. The road, which has been abandoned for over 15 years, has become totally impassable due to extensive waterlogging and severe deterioration, making it difficult for residents and motorists to use.

Farmers find it challenging to transport their produce to markets, while residents are disconnected from nearby communities, exacerbating insecurity concerns. The road also serves as a bypass connecting parts of Imo and Rivers states, and its poor condition has adversely affected agricultural activities. Despite approaching the local government and other authorities, residents have not received any significant assistance.

The Imo State Commissioner for Information has stated that the government is constructing a major link road, but it cannot be repaired until the primary road is fixed. Residents have been left to wait patiently for the necessary interventions.
