PS Omollo declares Homa Bay firmly in Ruto camp ahead of 2027

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo of Homa Bay has declared the region firmly in President William Ruto’s camp ahead of the 2027 General Election. Omollo stated that the region's leaders and residents are united in their support for the President, noting that the Kenya Kwanza administration has shown commitment to Homa Bay through various development projects and inclusion in government.

Speaking at his home in Kanyipir on August 23, 2026, Omollo emphasized that only one Member of Parliament from the region had criticized the president's development record, accusing the legislator of attempting to mislead residents. He highlighted road construction in parts of Homa Bay as evidence of government investment in the region, pointing out that areas previously without roads have now benefited from new infrastructure.

Omollo defended the Ruto administration against accusations of marginalizing communities that did not vote for it in the 2022 election, asserting that this government cares for the Luo people and has included other tribes. He urged residents to demonstrate their support for the government through civic participation, including obtaining identification cards and registering as voters, and warned politicians positioning themselves to succeed Ruto to demonstrate their record of service before seeking support.

Omollo challenged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to explain their contributions to the region and the country before seeking political roles. He emphasized that Kenyans should demand tangible records of leadership from politicians seeking electoral positions.
