Police hand over recovered drugs, suspects to NDLEA in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has turned over recovered drugs and detained suspects to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, according to a statement issued on Monday. The command's spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, reported that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, handed over the suspects and drugs to NDLEA's FCT Strategic Command.

Sanusi explained that while the police have the authority to investigate and prosecute drug-related offenses, collaboration with sister security and law enforcement agencies is crucial, particularly the NDLEA, which has the mandate to investigate and prosecute such crimes. He emphasized the importance of synergy in the collective response to drug-related crimes and other criminal activities within the FCT.

NDLEA's PR Officer, ACN Samuel Orji, praised the police for fostering inter-agency cooperation and assured that the suspects would be investigated and prosecuted according to the law. The FCT Police Command pledged to continue strengthening collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure the safety of the territory. They also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the police.
