Police arrest two on suspicion of assaulting elderly W. Bank Palestinian amputee

On Saturday night, Israeli Border Police rescued an Israeli gazelle fawn that had been illegally held in the West Bank village of A-Ram, according to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA). Intelligence from the Border Police Coast District Central Unit led to a joint operation by Border Police, Judea and Samaria Border Police, and INPA inspectors from the Nature Reserves Unit.

The fawn, a protected species, was discovered during the search and subsequently transferred to INPA inspectors for further treatment at the Wildlife Hospital at Ramat Gan Safari.

A 48-year-old resident of Kafr Aqab was arrested and questioned by INPA for suspected offenses related to the illegal trade, possession, and hunting of a protected species. On August 12, Border Police had previously rescued another gazelle fawn that had been illegally captured and kept in a basement near Jenin. The police conducted a nighttime infiltration to locate the animal, which was found in a private residence's basement.

A suspect was detained for questioning, and authorities plan to file an indictment against them for illegal hunting and holding of a wild animal. The rescued gazelle was taken to a veterinarian for examination and is expected to be transferred to a safari in Ramat Gan.
