PFA Seals Famous Store’s Warehouse in Lahore Over Rs. 20 Million Worth of Expired Food

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed a warehouse in Lahore after seizing 5.5 tons of expired food items valued at Rs. 20 million. The inspection took place in the Attari area of Nishtar Town, under the direction of PFA Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed. The PFA also imposed a fine of Rs. 1 million on the warehouse's management.

Officials found and disposed of 5,500 kilograms of expired chia seeds, chana papri, corn flour, and other products, as well as 400 kilograms of unhygienic meat. The items were intended for resale to consumers, both locally and nationwide via online platforms. During the inspection, the PFA discovered missing essential records, unlabeled products, and the presence of insects and rodent droppings.

The warehouse administration had repeatedly disregarded instructions on hygiene and food safety, and had not provided mandatory medical or training certificates for food handlers. PFA officials stated that the closure of the warehouse was a direct response to severe violations of the Punjab Pure Food Regulations. DG PFA Raja Mansoor Ahmed emphasized that food adulteration and fraud would not be tolerated, and pledged to eradicate such issues throughout the province, with chief minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's support.
