PC Shop Orders AMD Ryzen 5 9600X Twice, Gets Empty Package Twice

A US-based PC shop, PC Plug, ordered an AMD Ryzen 5 9600X from Amazon twice and received empty boxes both times. The shop's owner, Yak9776, sent Amazon footage of the first empty box and requested a refund, then ordered a replacement with next-day delivery. Upon receiving the second package, Yak9776 repeated the security footage recording, opened the box and discovered it was empty once more.

The shop has dubbed these missing 9600X CPUs as the "Ghost Edition." The CPUs were allegedly sold by a marketplace seller called The Tech Group, which was fulfilled by Amazon. The PC Plug shop typically orders directly from Amazon or manufacturers, but for this order, the inventory manager opted to purchase from a third-party seller instead.

The missing CPUs' whereabouts remain unknown, and it's unclear who was responsible for the theft. This incident isn't the first time individuals have been scammed by dishonest online sellers; last year, Hardware Buster fell victim to a scam where they received a fake AMD FX-4100 instead of a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and before that, fake Ryzen 7800X3D CPUs circulated on the second-hand market in Europe.
