Paratus Uganda first to market with Starlink service

Paratus Uganda has emerged as the pioneering provider in the country to introduce Starlink's low earth orbit (LEO) satellite service, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding and operational license agreement between the Uganda Communication Commission and Starlink. This strategic move positions Paratus Uganda at the vanguard of next-generation connectivity, providing high-speed, low-latency satellite access to enterprise customers, even in the most remote corners of the country.

Established through a joint venture between Paratus Group and Roke Telkom, a leading ISP in Kampala, Paratus Uganda has been offering enterprise customers resilient cross-border connectivity via the 2,000km Goma-to-Mombasa (G2M) route. The incorporation of Starlink services adds an integrated connectivity solution to their portfolio, supplemented by the Paratus Group's East-West Southern Africa backbone, redundancy solutions, and value-added network services.

With Starlink now part of their offerings, Paratus Uganda is unlocking a robust pipeline of customers across various sectors, such as mining, healthcare, tourism, NGOs, and government entities that necessitate dependable connectivity in remote and underserved areas. Country Manager Edwin Kyambadde expressed, "There has been substantial demand for LEO services from enterprise customers who have been eagerly awaiting Starlink's arrival in Uganda.

With Starlink now licensed, our focus shifts to connecting customers across the nation. This new addition to our network is a game-changer for businesses operating beyond conventional infrastructure reach." Martin Cox, Chief Commercial Officer of Paratus Group, emphasized that the Starlink license approval strengthens the group's strategy of developing a contiguous, multi-layered network across Africa.
