Paradox accidentally revealed its upcoming post-apocalyptic grand strategy game, Afterworld, during Gamescom preparations. The revelation occurred when the company's forum filters listed the unannounced game's name. According to a screenshot discovered on Reddit, "Afterworld" was among the unreleased games. Furthermore, a Discord server with a description detailing a "lead a tribe of survivors, rediscover ancient technology, manage wasteland settlements and wage wars of conquest and political struggle in Afterworld" emerged online.

While forum users expressed excitement, some were disappointed that the game was not based in a fantasy setting. Despite the initial description, it remains uncertain if the game will follow a similar path to Fallout, treating civilization as a one-time event. The official Gamescom event begins on August 25th, where further details about Afterworld will likely be unveiled.
